Charge Nurse
About The Position
As a Charge Nurse, you'll oversee a department of frontline nurses caring for patients. Your previous experience in acute care, LTC, or nursing homes adds tremendous value to our nursing team. Every day you will advocate for your fellow nurses as you support them in reaching their full potential, which aligns with your department's operational goals and objectives. To thrive in this role, you need to be accountable and confident. You're an excellent communicator in 1:1 interactions and in front of groups. It's also important for you to be comfortable holding tough conversations, as you are responsible for the performance of your people and your unit.
Requirements
- 1-2 years recent experience in relevant clinical area
- Registered Nurse: CA, upon hire
- Basic Life Support - CPR, upon hire
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support, upon hire
- 3-5 years of Relief or Charge Nurserole, upon hire

- Acts as a clinical resource and serves as a mentor to health care team members
- Models clinical excellence.

- Able to assign staff appropriately
- Works collaboratively with Nursing Supervisor on staffing decisions.
- Flexes staff to meet matrix and census levels.
- Assigns breaks and lunches to staff and ensures compliance.
- Takes actions to ensure staff is able to complete patient care within limits of shift
- Reviews and maintains supply usage
