About The Position

Provides direct services to clients to include qualified counseling, practice as a Chemical Dependency, Addiction, or Substance Abuse counselor. Provides consultation, leadership and support to fellow members of the SUDP team and those pursuing their SUDP. Conducts comprehensive assessments and determines proper course of treatment in accordance with their defined scope of practice. Understands the nature of treatment of chemical dependency, particularly in the cultural context of Native Americans (including the evidence-based concept of addressing issues related to historical trauma) in order to provide effective and culturally appropriate intervention and prevention services. Conducts chemical dependency assessments and provides individual or group counseling and other treatment modalities as appropriate. Responds to crisis situations and provides immediate clinical services or makes appropriate referrals (to clinicians within the facility or to outside designated crisis responders) with possible after hours services as needed or required. Works collaboratively with CCT Behavioral Health Program, the Indian Health Services, referring agencies and institutions, cognizant authorities, other healthcare providers, and other social service agencies. Provides leadership and consultation to help ensure high quality services and confirms trainees complete all required paperwork correctly and in a timely fashion. Travels and performs duties in the field as required. Performs other duties as assigned to include but not limited to crisis and other work that supports the overall objectives of the position.

Requirements

  • Requires an AA degree in Chemical Dependency and eight years of experience providing addiction/substance use disorder counseling and case management services or behavioral healthcare field.
  • Requires a license by the State of Washington as a SUDP or SUDPT or a Chemical Dependency Professional or a similar state or US jurisdiction with scope of practice that includes the independent provision of chemical dependency treatment services. If not yet licensed, must be eligible for and able to obtain license within 90 days of employment.
  • Requires professional experience or personal background that demonstrates a firm understanding of Native American traditions, customs and cultural awareness as they relate to effective treatment delivery.
  • Requires and understanding of electronic health record systems and their appropriate use in a chemical dependency treatment setting.
  • Requires creative problem solving skills and the ability to develop innovative solutions to complex problems.
  • Requires a high degree of organizational skills.
  • Requires experience meeting programmatic clinical deadlines.
  • Requires knowledge of commitment to adhere to the professional code of ethics for a chemical dependency treatment provider, especially as it pertains to confidentiality and professional boundaries.
  • Requires excellent writing and case management skills, and a commitment to strong clinical documentation.
  • Requires strong verbal and written communication skills.
