Plan and perform a variety of cleaning and chemical processing operations to prepare parts for NDI, visual inspection, or return to service. Work from operation sheets, Service Process Operation Procedures (SPOP), specifications, and written and verbal detailed instructions to perform standard chemical processing operations on items comprised of materials such as various steel, nickel, aluminum, and titanium alloys and other metals, plastics, and various composites. In accordance with established procedures, degrease and clean items using acid and alkali dipping or soaking operations, and cold or hot water rinses to strip or remove grease, dirt, scale, smut, and other surface residue as appropriate to perform specified cleaning operations or prepare items for subsequent inspection operations. Use brush and/or scrubbing pad, pumice powder, and cold water to remove corrosion, stains, or other surface residue when necessary. Visually check parts for proper cleaning results and reprocess when needed. As required, mask items with tape, wax, or other coating. Load items into baskets and fixtures as appropriate. Set up equipment, process through the various preparatory solutions and immerse in tank; upon completion, rinse and dry. Check completed work visually for surface pitting, excessive etching, discoloration, voids, and blisters, stock removal, and surface hardness. Assist higher grade technician with new, unusual, or large jobs requiring assistance to handle material, mask and position items on fixtures and in tank, and to complete miscellaneous reprocessing operations. Operate regeneration equipment to produce deionized water, maintain tank levels as necessary, help drain and refill the various processing tanks as directed, operate oven to bake parts when necessary, assist with the moving of materials and containers, using hoist, hand truck or fork lift to move and transport heavier items, and perform other related duties as required to facilitate chemical processing and surface cleaning functions. Must be able to read and write English This is a 2nd shift Opportunity. The hours are 3:30pm- midnight, Monday-Friday. There is a 10% Shift differential on 2nd shift .

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Requires a basic knowledge of the action of various chemicals upon different materials.
  • Also requires ability to work from drawings, operation sheets, specifications, and handbooks, the application of general surface treatment methods to developmental operations and specific problems.
  • Prefer 6-12 months of trades training.

Nice To Haves

  • 1+ years working on a clean or etch line.
  • Within the aviation industry preferred.
