Summary: Performs diversified raw material and/or finished product testing according to established procedures in all areas of the analytical laboratory. Responsible for analytical methods development and validation of test materials.
Requirements
- Two years college or equivalent.
- Minimum of three years of industry or relevant experience.
- Ability to operate diverse analytical lab equipment.
- Analytical procedure development, validation experience, and writing skills.
- Effective communication skills - internal and customer contact re-procedure development or resolution of procedure concern.
Responsibilities
- Maintains a working knowledge of raw material control and/or finished product analysis.
- May discuss procedural problems with customers and/or interplant personnel.
- Performs daily raw material in-process bulk and/or finished product testing to support production.
- Operates analytical instrumentation: IR spectrophotometer, gas chromatograph and UV-visible spectrophotometer, HPLC, XRF and Karl Fischer.
- Keeps inventory on chemicals and apparatus and writes purchase orders for these materials.
- Develops test methods for and performs new product assays.
- Performs equipment installation/operational/performance qualification on lab equipment.
- Knowledge of USP requirements.
- Qualifies/transforms products to test methods (completes documentation of such).
- Maintenance and calibration of equipment.
- Contributes suggestions for improving laboratory methods and procedures.
- Performs special project work with minimum supervision.
- Participates in the analytical in-house education training program.
- Any other duties as assigned.
