About The Position

This is a professional chemist position responsible for developing and enhancing the Medical Marijuana laboratory section of the Bureau of Public Health Laboratories. This chemist position will aid in the development, adaptation validation, and implementation of new analytical methods for specimen potency and contamination utilizing GC/MS, HPLC/MS, LC-MS/MS, ICP/MS, etc. and processes specimens with analyses according to guidelines as recommended by ISO17025. Assists in the development, adaptation, validation, and implementation of new analytical techniques used to analyze chemicals of Public Health concern utilizing GC/MS, HPLC/MS, LC-MS/MS, and ICP/MS etc. analytical instruments Ensures that specimens and proficiency test survey samples are analyzed and reported within laboratory information system per BPHL methods developed within ISO17025 guidelines within the prescribed holding times Assumes responsibility for instrumentation assigned, documents daily maintenance, calibration, preventive maintenance, troubling and assures quality assurance objectives are maintained for all analytical methods performed Assumes responsibility for receiving logging and proper secured storage of specimen and controlled substances required for testing Reviews technical/scientific literature. Prepares and/or edits standard operating procedures. Prepare necessary reports on current program activities as required. Performs other related duties as assigned by the supervisor

Requirements

  • Knowledge of terminology, principles and techniques used in analysis and testing.
  • Knowledge of procedures, techniques & equipment used in lab testing and analysis.
  • Skill in the use of lab equipment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.
  • Professional laboratory experience.

Nice To Haves

  • BS degree in Chemistry or a physical science
  • MS degree in Chemistry or a physical science
  • 4 years of experience

Responsibilities
