About The Position

CHIEF ARCHITECT (CDAO): Bowhead seeks a Chief Architect to support the Chief Digital and Artificial Intelligence Office (CDAO) program located in Arlington, VA. This contract provides enterprise-level program management, governance, process architecture, and enterprise and solution architecture advisory services in support of the CDAO WDP program. The Chief Architect is responsible for designing, maintaining, and governing the technical Enterprise and Solution Architectures for the War Data Platform (WDP). This role ensures that the platform meets scalability, cybersecurity, and interoperability goals while adhering to DoD frameworks and CDAO priorities. The role also focuses on ensuring compliance with regulatory guidance, including Zero Trust Architecture principles, data governance models, and multi-cloud integration best practices.

Requirements

  • Active Top Secret (TS) Security Clearance with SCI eligibility.
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience performing enterprise or solution architecture for programs of similar size and complexity.
  • Technical expertise in multi-cloud and federated environments, with hands-on experience guiding system integration.
  • Experience applying enterprise frameworks (DoDAF, NIST) to govern architecture and IT systems.
  • Must be able to maintain a security clearance at the Top Secret level with SCI eligibility.
  • US Citizenship is a requirement for this contract.
  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds on occasion.
  • Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged period amounts of time.
  • Must be able to twist, bend, and squat periodically.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, engineering, or related technical field.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree in computing, systems architecture, or similar discipline.
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional or equivalent certifications (e.g., Azure or Google Cloud).
  • TOGAF Certification.
  • CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional).

Responsibilities

  • Define and manage the Enterprise Architecture Baseline for WDP, incorporating security, data, operational, and cloud standards.
  • Ensure architectural designs align with DoD Architecture Framework (DoDAF) and security policies (e.g., RMF and NIST 800-53).
  • Lead technical decision-making through governance boards such as the Architecture Review Board (ARB).
  • Collaborate with integration contractors, engineering teams, and Government stakeholders to guide platform modernization.
  • Create, document, and maintain critical artifacts, including operational architectures, data flows, and Zero Trust designs.
