WIRED is seeking an established expert with a with a distinct point of view and a commanding voice to cover the business of tech, which encompasses the impact of artificial intelligence, the power of platforms, the future of work, and much more. In this role, you’ll be responsible for consistently breaking high-impact news. Our priority is ambitious, impactful work. That can take many forms: a major scoop, a deeply reported investigation, timely analysis, or a special project. This is a role for a highly seasoned and experienced writer with both authority and style—someone who doesn’t just observe the culture but shapes the conversation around it. We are interested in experienced journalists who are public personalities —on television, at live events, or across social platforms . The ideal candidate sees the connective tissue between industries and institutions, between Silicon Valley and Washington, between Business and Wall Street, between cultural shifts and boardroom decisions. The ideal candidate has a proven ability to deliver scoops, exclusives, and stories that can’t be found anywhere else. We’re interested in hard news and the ability to put new information into a broader context. You’ll also be expected to contribute to WIRED in other ways. That includes collaborating with journalists on other desks, and pitching and writing long-form features on your beat. You should also be prepared to engage in a wide range of storytelling formats, such as social, podcasts, video series, and live events. This senior correspondent will report to WIRED’s director, business and industry, and will be part of a growing and increasingly global newsroom of smart, kind, collaborative, and well-informed colleagues who are always brimming with ideas and eager to help each other out. This is a guild position.
