About The Position

Northeast Kingdom Human Services (NKHS) is seeking a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to provide executive leadership and oversight of the organization’s financial operations. The CFO works closely with the Executive Director and Board of Directors to ensure financial integrity, regulatory compliance, and long-term fiscal sustainability. NKHS serves more than 3,400 individuals annually across the Northeast Kingdom.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field required
• 8–10 years of senior-level financial leadership experience
• Strong knowledge of financial management, accounting principles, and regulatory compliance
• Experience working in complex, multi-funded, or highly regulated environments
• Strong analytical, strategic planning, and problem-solving skills
• Proven leadership and people management abilities

Nice To Haves

• Master’s degree preferred (MBA, Finance, or Accounting)
• CPA preferred

Responsibilities

• Oversee all financial operations, including accounting, budgeting, audits, and financial reporting
• Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and regulatory financial requirements
• Lead long-term financial planning, forecasting, and risk management activities
• Serve as a strategic financial partner to the Executive Director and Board of Directors
• Provide leadership and supervision to finance department staff
• Develop and maintain internal financial controls and policies
• Support organizational growth while maintaining fiscal responsibility
