About The Position

We are seeking to add a Chief Financial Officer to our growing and talented Design-Build Company. Objectives of this Role The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a key member of the executive leadership team for our $100m design-build company. Reporting to the CEO, the CFO provides strategic financial leadership, oversees all accounting and finance functions, and partners closely with operations to drive profitability, manage risk, and support sustainable growth. This position requires expertise in construction accounting, cash flow management, and strategic capital planning.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
  • 10–15 years of progressive finance leadership, including senior executive responsibility, with significant experience in construction or project-based industries.
  • A strong understanding of job cost accounting principles, construction accounting, WIP schedules.
  • Proficient with AIA billing and time and material billing, along with a knowledge of subcontractor financial workflow.
  • Deep business acumen with the ability to balance hands-on financial management and long-term strategic leadership.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to manage multiple projects at once.

  • Familiarity with construction ERP systems like Vista by Viewpoint preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a strategic advisor to the CEO, Board, and Executive Team contributing to corporate strategy and long-range planning.
  • Develop and execute financial strategies aligned with Company goals and long-term vision.
  • Lead all financial operations, including accounting, cost accounting, tax planning, audits, and external reporting.
  • Work with the executive leadership team on annual budgeting, financial planning and analysis, and forecasting.
  • Review data at a high level and make business recommendations to improve profitability.
  • With executive management, analyze project performance, margins, and cost controls.
  • Oversee strong internal controls, governance, and compliance.
  • Oversee corporate business insurances, bonding capacity, and financial risk mitigation.
  • Manage cash flow and working capital.
  • Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting monthly, quarterly, and annually.
  • Maintain relationships with banks, sureties, auditors, and external financial partners.
  • Lead a high-performing finance team and develop staff through coaching, mentoring, and performance management.
