About the position

The Pennon Organization is seeking a strategic thinker who has proven success in product development and management to join our team as the Chief Product and Technology Officer. This role will be responsible for leading the product lifecycle and change process for current and new products for Pennon that help to advance our goals in the area of production, journalism, and education. They will lead a cross-organizational team that develops ideas and brings them to life to serve our community while taking feedback and improving our delivery of quality and innovative programming.

Responsibilities

  • Define and execute a forward-thinking product strategy aligned with Pennon’s mission and growth objectives.
  • Lead the creation and evolution of product roadmaps, ensuring cross-functional alignment with editorial, audience, and revenue teams.
  • Identify, implement, and scale technologies that enhance operational efficiency and elevate user experience.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across departments to align product initiatives with broader organizational goals.
  • Mentor and manage a multidisciplinary team of product managers, engineers, and analysts.
  • Champion a culture of innovation, experimentation, and user-centered design throughout the product development process.
  • Oversee the modernization of core technology systems, including CMS platforms, data infrastructure, and digital publishing tools.
  • Evaluate and integrate emerging technologies that are secure, scalable, and tailored to the evolving needs of internal stakeholders.
  • Lead the development of a unified data strategy, supported by robust analytics infrastructure and intuitive dashboards.
  • Partner with divisional leaders to translate data insights into strategic actions and measurable outcomes.
  • Promote a data-informed culture through accessible tools, training, and clear communication.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Business, Product Management, Education, Media, or a related field.
  • MBA or advanced degree is a plus.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in product management or a related leadership role.
  • Proven experience in leading product teams, managing a product portfolio, and driving product innovation.
  • Microsoft Office knowledge and demonstrated success in managing digital products and content-driven platforms.
  • Experience with media assets is a plus.
