About The Position

Plan, develop, and oversee nutritionally balanced student meal programs that meet federal, state, and local requirements while promoting healthy eating habits and supporting a safe, efficient, and student-centered child nutrition environment.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Food and Nutrition, Home Economics, Institutional Management, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or related field preferred
  • Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN)
  • Ability to analyze productivity measures to evaluate customer service satisfaction and adjust standard menu offerings accordingly
  • Knowledge of technology used to capture and analyze data for menu analysis and digital menu software
  • Knowledge of menu planning, recipe crediting, nutrient analysis, and food-based menus
  • Knowledge of special diet and allergy management software, menu creation, and procedures
  • Ability to develop and implement effective districtwide marketing and promotional campaigns, including social media account management, food photography, and graphic design
  • Effective organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in school food service or related nutrition program management, including experience in menu planning, marketing, community outreach and/or student engagement

Responsibilities

  • Under the supervision of the Child Nutrition Coordinator, develop, analyze, and maintain cost-effective, nutritionally balanced menus in compliance with USDA, Texas Department of Agriculture, and local requirements using approved analysis software.
  • Determine and monitor nutritional adequacy of all menu offerings.
  • Maintain current Child Nutrition (CN) labels and product analysis documentation.
  • Evaluate new food products and identify innovative options to improve menu quality and student acceptance.
  • Develop and implement therapeutic and special diet menus for students with documented dietary needs.
  • Maintain accurate records for food allergies and special diets.
  • Provide current nutritional information to parents, nurses, campus staff, and Café Supervisors.
  • Support efficient, productive, and student-centered nutrition program operations.
  • Promote and monitor food safety, sanitation, and quality assurance standards.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local child nutrition regulations.
  • Plan, coordinate, and implement district-wide marketing and promotional initiatives to increase participation.
  • Develop and manage promotional campaigns for all meal programs.
  • Collaborate with student groups, campus clubs, and advisory organizations to enhance engagement and gather feedback.
  • Create layouts and content for printed media, digital platforms, and public displays.
  • Maintain and update nutrition-related content on district websites, menu boards, and social media.
  • Lead innovative efforts to increase participation and revenue while maintaining high nutrition standards.
  • Serve as liaison between the Child Nutrition Department and students, parents, staff, and community stakeholders.
  • Manage and resolve inquiries, concerns, suggestions, and complaints.
  • Represent the department at district events, community meetings, and parent engagement forums.
  • Serve as public relations specialist as assigned by the Child Nutrition Director.
  • Develop, implement, and communicate nutrition education programs for students, families, and staff.
  • Coordinate nutrition awareness activities through Child Nutrition staff.
  • Participate in the School Health Advisory Committee and other relevant committees.
  • Support district wellness initiatives and health fairs.
  • Conduct studies related to student food acceptance, nutrition needs, and program effectiveness.
  • Collect and analyze participation, marketing, and satisfaction data.
  • Administer surveys and stakeholder feedback processes.
  • Use data to guide strategic planning and continuous program improvement.
  • Identify and implement innovations to enhance service quality and outcomes.
  • Mentor and guide staff in menu development, marketing, and nutrition education practices.
  • Provide technical support and professional guidance to Café Supervisors and Child Nutrition staff.
  • Collaborate with district leadership on program planning and improvement initiatives.
  • Support training efforts related to nutrition standards, customer service, and best practices.
