About The Position

Under the leadership and collaboration of the Executive Director, the Assistant Director will manage day-to-day operations of CSDC; will assist in management of staff assignments and scheduling for classrooms, office, and support coverage on a daily and long-term basis. As a collaborative member of the Administrative team, hire, supervise and support the professional development of CSDC permanent staff (including ongoing feedback, annual evaluations, program retreats and monthly evening workshops). Provide daily supervision for any office administrative support. The CSDC is a NAEYC-accredited center nationally known for its inquiry-based, emergent curriculum and its special efforts to promote a diverse community of learners. CSDC is a 12-month program

Requirements

  • Masters degree in early childhood education or related field required.
  • Experience managing or coordinating early childhood center-based programs (3+ years).
  • Experience supervising early childhood teachers
  • Experience as an early childhood classroom teacher (3+ years).
  • Experiences and skills that could contribute to our efforts regarding diversity, particularly knowledge and skills related to special needs inclusion.
  • Experience supervising and training pre-service teachers.
  • Experience with university child development centers and inquiry-based approach to early education
  • Familiarity with licensing, health and other New Hampshire regulations, and familiarity with NAEYC accreditation standards and participation in this process.
  • Access to and knowledge of ECE networks in NH.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the executive director in handling daily communications and problem-solving with families, faculty and staff.
  • Meet regularly with the Executive Director and other administrative team members to coordinate operations and events at the center
  • Assist in overseeing state licensing and NAEYC accreditation and develop/implement related policies as needed in collaboration with Executive Director.
  • Manage health, safety and emergency policies and procedures for the center in accordance with best practice.
  • Contribute to the diversity and inclusion mission of the center.
  • Act as the Special rights Coordinator, including maintaining confidential files, attending IFSP and IEP meetings as needed, contributing to related professional development, and coordinating intervention services and other resources for children as needed in collaboration with classroom teachers.
  • Recruit, hire, orient and supervise UNH student employees (Teaching Assistants).
  • Manage all student placements and orientation of students as needed.
  • Coordinate the HDFS635 course and teach one course per academic year as able and available.
  • Schedule and coordinate visits and tours to the center.
  • Assist with the application and admissions processes as needed by Executive Director.
  • With support from Administrative Assistant help, oversee purchasing, inventory and day-to-day financial management, including tracking temporary staffing costs.
  • Provide support for and attend special events at the center.
