Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED, CDA, or 6 hours of ECE credit preferred
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of childcare experience.
  • Complete 10 hours of Health & Safety Orientation Training within the first 90 days
  • Obtain Pediatric First Aid & CPR Certification within 90 days of hire
  • Pass a Comprehensive Background Check
  • Complete 20 hours of annual training each year after the first year
  • High energy.
  • Ability to work well with others.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills.
  • An understanding of child development.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to take frequent walks, use hands and fingers, handle objects, tools or controls, talk to and hear voices at many levels.
  • May be required to kneel, bend, squat or crawl.
  • A specific vision ability will be required including the ability to see up close and up to a certain distance, to see colors, have peripheral vision and depth perception.
  • Be able to lift 40lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Provides constant supervision and ensures the safety and well-being of infants at all times.
  • Follows all state-required infant-to-teacher ratios and licensing regulations.
  • Performs routine care including feeding, diapering, soothing, and assisting infants with naptime routines.
  • Prepare bottles, breast milk, and age-appropriate foods according to parent instructions and center guidelines.
  • Maintains strict sanitation procedures, including cleaning and disinfecting toys, equipment, and classroom surfaces.
  • Supports safe sleep procedures (placing infants on their backs, empty cribs, monitoring nap checks, etc.).
  • Implements developmentally appropriate activities such as tummy time, sensory play, music, and early language interaction.
  • Observes infants’ behavior, development, and health, reports concerns to the Supervisor or Director.
  • Maintains accurate documentation of feedings, diaper changes, naps, and developmental notes and lesson plans.
  • Completes required incident reports and communicates daily with families in a professional, respectful manner.
  • Builds nurturing, trusting relationships with infants through consistent, responsive caregiving.
  • Works collaboratively with classroom team members to create a warm, predictable environment.
  • Attends required staff training, CPR/First Aid certification, and professional development sessions.
  • Adheres to all center policies, child safety procedures, and state childcare regulations.
  • Maintain a personal professional development plan to ensure continuous quality improvement.
  • Performs other duties as assigned and works as a cooperative member of the team.
