The Children's Room Support Monitor provides a safe, nurturing, and developmentally supportive environment for children whose parents or guardians are attending court proceedings, helping shield them from stress and emotional distress. This role promotes stability, connects families with community resources, and may also support operations of the Family Visitation Center.

Requirements

  • A High School Diploma required.
  • At least one year of experience working with children or in a related human services role required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct supervision and care for children in a safe, nurturing and developmentally appropriate environment.
  • Creates a calm, child-focused space that minimizes exposure to stress and potential trauma associated with court proceedings.
  • Offers age-appropriate activities that promote emotional stability, comfort, and positive engagement.
  • Responds to children’s emotional needs using trauma informed and culturally responsive practices.
  • Ensures accessibility and inclusivity for children and families of diverse backgrounds, abilities, and identities.
  • Communicates respectfully with parents, guardians, and caregivers during participant check-in and check-out.
  • Identifies family needs and connects them with appropriate community resources and referrals.
  • Supports families in crisis by offering guidance toward programs that promote long-term stability and well-being.
  • Maintains accurate attendance logs, incidents reports, and documentation according to program guidelines.
  • Collaborates with court personal, social service agencies, and community partners to ensure seamless service delivery.
  • Participates in cross-training within the Family Visitation Center and may assist with supervised visitations as needed.
  • Maintains a clean, organized, and child-friendly environment.
  • May attend community events or outreach activities as required.
