About the position

The CHS Marketing/Business CTE Teacher is responsible for teaching business and technology courses within a competency-based CTE program. This position requires effective instructional strategies, collaboration with parents and the school community, and the management of a student leadership organization. The teacher will also develop community and industry partnerships, maintain program budgets, and participate in professional development activities.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate knowledge of subject matter and center instruction on high expectations for student achievement.
  • Use multiple student data elements for assessing student progress and modifying instruction.
  • Communicate and collaborate with parents and the school community to foster individual student success.
  • Plan, organize, and teach a competency-based CTE program in business and technology courses.
  • Manage and advise a student leadership organization and incorporate leadership activities into the curriculum.
  • Develop and maintain program budgets following district and building guidelines.
  • Foster and manage a safe, positive, and respectful learning environment.
  • Demonstrate effective classroom and computer lab management.
  • Assist in the development of activities designed to promote an innovative business and technology program.
  • Provide information and counsel students regarding employment, career opportunities, and further education.
  • Participate in district, regional, and state CTE meetings, including student leadership organizations.
  • Create, refine, and update Business and Marketing CTE OSPI approved frameworks.
  • Maintain consistent attendance and conform to regular work hours specified under contract.
  • Share responsibility for school activities and student supervision.
  • Implement and comply with District policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Valid Washington State Teacher's CTE Certificate appropriate for high school level.
  • Knowledge of subject matter/course content and resources relevant to assignment.
  • Skills in effective planning and implementation of lessons based on individual student needs.
  • Ability to communicate fluently verbally and in writing in English.
  • Evidence of strong content area instructional capabilities at the high school level.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, IEPs, and governmental regulations.
  • Successful Washington State Patrol check and FBI Fingerprint Clearance Report.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Microsoft IT Academy curriculum and MOS Certification.
  • Evidence of motivating and instructing students of all ability levels.
  • Experience in developing community and industry partnerships.

Benefits

  • Salary placement on State Cert Salary Schedule, currently $57,302-$103,899 for the base contract.
  • 1.0 FTE, 7.5 Hours per Day.
