Civil Design Engineering Intern - Summer 2026
About The Position
Oneida Engineering Solutions (OES) was awarded the Outstanding Tribally Owned Business of the Year award in 2023. We are an 8(a), minority business enterprise (MBE) that provides engineering, environmental, science, and specialized professional services solutions for customers nationwide. Our primary clients are WisDOT, MnDOT, counties, municipalities, and private developers in Wisconsin. OES has immediate openings for a Civil Design Engineering Intern - Summer 2026 supporting our Transportation Team. As we are hoping to provide hands-on training and mentorship for this internship, this opportunity is based in the office and can be based out of our Madison, WI, or Green Bay, WI Office.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field
- Completion of at least sophomore year prior to Summer 2026
- Basic understanding of transportation engineering principles
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the preparation of roadway design plans, profiles, cross sections, and details in accordance with WisDOT standards
- Support geometric layout and alignment development using CAD software (e.g., MicroStation and/or OpenRoads Designer)
- Perform quantity calculations, cost estimates, and basic engineering analyses
- Assist with drainage design and utility coordination tasks
- Review and apply WisDOT design manuals, specifications, and standard details
- Support the preparation of technical reports and documentation
- Participate in project meetings and coordinate with internal team members and external stakeholders
- Conduct occasional field visits to project sites (as needed)
