About The Position

Summary Sambatek is currently seeking a Project Engineer to work with a team to execute transportation engineering projects. As a project engineer, this individual will be responsible for the production and development of project documents using specified standards and examples while following specific process and procedures. This person must strike a balance between learning and producing, becoming more efficient over time and more capable of contributing to an increasingly wider variety of subtasks and assignments. With this balance comes the responsibility to proactively seek direction and feedback within a team setting while growing increasingly independent. Throughout this growth, the ability to communicate well will be paramount to success. We bring unique expertise and innovation to city, county, and state clients to collaborate on the best solutions to ensure ethical, sustainable, and right-sized projects are optimizing the investment of what is ultimately our tax dollars at work. Work Location: Hybrid- in-office while training, flexible hybrid thereafter Expected Compensation Range: $34-38 per hour (Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications) Pay Rate Type: Hourly with overtime rate of 1.5x base pay for all hours worked over 40 in a week

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience
  • Strong self-motivation and communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Ability to manage tasks on a project with strong attention to detail

Nice To Haves

  • Engineer in Training (EIT) preferred
  • Experience with OpenRoads Designer and corridor modeling preferred

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to highway projects in preliminary design phase or plan development phase
  • Measure, calculate, and tabulate quantities for bidding purposes
  • Participate in quality review processes
  • Perform CAD drafting in OpenRoads Designer
  • Perform subtasks for a task lead or project manager as part of a collaborative team
  • Spend time in the field, in addition to the office, to perform construction inspection, material testing, and see transportation project sites to grow as a designer
