Join our team and help us keep communities connected. Your Opportunity Stantec’s is looking for a student intern to join our Transportation team. If the opportunity allows, Stantec may be able to work around the student’s coursework during the school semester to allow for a continuation of the internship in the Fall or Winter. As an Intern at Stantec, you’ll find a variety of learning opportunities through our Civil Engineering Intern Program. With interactive workshops and development opportunities, you’ll have access to leadership and exposure to our wide range of business units such as Infrastructure, Buildings, Energy & Resources, Water, and Environmental Services. The Transportation team works on various types of projects which may include roadway, bridge, aviation, light rail, land port of entries, street drainage, or traffic projects. Our team also works closely with our water resources and community development groups providing additional learning opportunities.

Requirements

  • Internship level transportation infrastructure opportunity is available for candidates with minimal experience.
  • Candidate must be available for internship during Summer 2026.
  • Strong writing skills and ability to work independently is highly desired.
  • Proficiency with MS Office software, specifically Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint, is required.
  • Current enrollment in an accredited BS or MS degree in Civil Engineering program is preferred.
  • Current enrollment in a technical design or CADD program will also be considered.
  • Position will primarily work in an office setting; may require some field work.
  • Typical office environment includes working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time.
  • Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
  • Project site visits during design and/or construction with an experienced engineer or designer.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3d, and/or Microstation OpenRoads or OpenBridge is a plus.
  • Previous internship or employment in the consulting industry is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Learning from project managers and technical design staff to prepare design calculations and project documentation
  • Learn and/or improve your fundamental computer-aided design and drafting (CADD) skills and begin developing skills in the software packages such as AutoCAD Civil 3d and Microstation OpenRoads and OpenBridge
  • Work with experienced engineers and designers to develop construction drawing plans sets for local, state, and nationwide projects
  • Develop and utilize excel files to perform design calculations
  • Edit and review technical reports
