About The Position

GAI Consultants is looking for a Civil Engineering Manager 1 to provide direction to the civil discipline, including delegation of tasks to engineering/drafting staff, preparation and checking of calculations, drawing development, preparation of deliverables, and budget tracking. This position requires coordination with Project Managers, and other discipline leads within GAI (such as mechanical, electrical, process, civil, and geotechnical engineering). Job Duties: Staff management duties include planning, mentoring, and coaching junior level engineering drafting and field staff. Task management duties include staff planning, budget/schedule management, scope change management, quality assurance/peer reviews, report writing, staff mentorship, and client coordination. Proposal preparation including scope and budget development and interdisciplinary coordination Draft site reports, design narratives, meeting minutes, and project memorandums. Collaborate with other engineering leads for resource and schedule management, performance of QA/QC peer reviews, and staff mentorship. Independently conduct field condition assessments. Performance of bid and construction phase services including responding to bidder questions, responding to Contractor Requests for Information, and submittal reviews, site visits, and verifying change order documentation. Perform projects that are managed by other engineering leads. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs., climb ladders, and work at heights over 25 ft. Must be able to wear and work in Personal Protection Equipment. Must be capable of leading, and training staff to perform field visits to client sites to obtain photos, physical measurements, view site conditions, inspect E&S controls, perform infiltration testing. Ability to work independently and direct/oversee engineering and drafting staff on a project basis. Possess strong communication skills that will allow for a collaborative environment with other engineering disciplines. Keeps informed of new methods and developments affecting their practice and recommends new practices or changes in emphasis of projects. Leads projects of moderate complexity and scope or leads a major project. Analyzes complex problems across specialty areas appropriate to the practice of engineering. Analyzes ethical dilemmas to determine appropriate courses of action.

Requirements

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs., climb ladders, and work at heights over 25 ft.
  • Must be able to wear and work in Personal Protection Equipment.
  • Ability to work independently
  • Possess strong communication skills that will allow for a collaborative environment with other engineering disciplines.
  • 12 years: Knowledgeable in NPDES Permitting requirements and construction practices.
  • Experience with GIS, AutoCAD, HY-8, Pondpack, Hydraflow, Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, and other related engineering software.
  • B.S. or M.S. in Civil Engineering
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) License, reciprocity in multiple states.
