About The Position

Position posted until a viable pool of candidates has been established EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE A Bachelor's degree in Risk Management Insurance, Business Administration, or a related field plus fundamental knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures of Risk Management. Experience in a Risk Management program can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education. Personal computer skills highly desirable. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Responsible for obtaining information necessary to determine the Authority's legal liability in cases. Observes physical sites, interviews witnesses, reviews medical and/or police reports. 2. Evaluates findings, prepares written reports documenting conclusions, and recommends actions based on analysis. 3. Determines liability and/or extent of damages/payments, recommends monetary settlements, if applicable, and negotiates with claimant. 4. Studies the proper management and maintenance of claim records and files; insures that all claim records/files are properly maintained and that payments are made on a timely basis and in compliance with all applicable rules, regulations and/or conditions governing each specific claim. 5. Provides assistance and guidance to MARTA officials in the proper completion of necessary reports in compliance with all applicable laws and reporting requirements. 6. Telephones and/or corresponds with claimants, physicians, lawyers, etc., to elicit information, correct errors/omissions on forms, and/or to investigate questionable data. 7. Lawsuits- Requested by Law Department- Deliver file and discuss assignment with Senior Adjuster and Manager. 8.Responsible for pulling all diary files. 9.Performs related duties as assigned.
