About The Position

Manages litigated claims and the Special Investigations Unit (SIU), overseeing litigation and fraud investigation strategy, assigning cases to outside counsel, evaluating performance, controlling costs, and leading pre-suit consultation across all lines of business. Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function. How does this role make an impact? Leads strategy for litigated claims, including coverage determination, investigation, evaluation of liability and damages, reserving, negotiation, resolution strategy and cost management. Provides guidance and counsel to claims personnel with respect to identifying potential fraud and referring claims to SIU, including training on fraud-related issues for other company departments. Provide s technical mentorship and training on policy interpretation , claim investigation and handling , and litigation management for all l ines of business . Serves as an escalation point for technical and policy-related disputes. Develops and maintains claims policy for litigated and SIU claims. Monitors litigated and SIU claims results, identifies trends, and works with business units to improve results. Build s and maintains strong relationships with claims departments, product, underwriting, legal and reinsurance functions. Manages the implementation and maintenance of disaster recovery plans and activities in assigned areas . Maintains current contact information for all employees in applicable areas and communicates with non-recovery employees during a disaster.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctorate
  • 10 years of claims experience, including 3 years managing litigated claims or special investigations
