About The Position

The Kentucky Department of Corrections (DOC), Division of Adult Institutions operates 13 correctional facilities that house Kentucky's adult inmate population. The mission of DOC is to protect the citizens of the Commonwealth and to provide a safe, secure and humane environment for staff and offenders in carrying out the mandates of the legislative and judicial processes; and, to provide opportunities for offenders to acquire skills which facilitate non-criminal behavior. The Classification & Treatment Officer at Western Kentucky Correctional Complex is vital to this mission by performing duties in the evaluation, assessment and counseling of inmates in the correctional setting of the institution. The responsibilities may include: Interviewing, evaluating and assessing inmates to identify behavioral patterns Develop case history on inmates Serve on committees to determine classification Prepare reports to assist with classification Provide daily counsel to inmates regarding the institution as well as personal or family matters Respond to inmate requests and outside agencies

Requirements

  • Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.
  • NONE
  • Additional experience in corrections, law enforcement, or a related field will substitute for the education on a year for year basis.
  • Current or prior military experience will substitute for the required education on a year for year basis.
  • NONE
