Position Summary: The CLE Specialist/Sr. Specialist oversees the firm’s Continuing Legal Education (CLE) program for New York (and Washington, D.C.), ensuring attorneys remain compliant with applicable CLE requirements and that the firm’s internal and on-demand CLE programming is properly accredited, delivered, tracked, and documented. As the firm is an accredited CLE provider, this role maintains provider obligations, certification processes, and records retention, partnering closely with attorney faculty, practice groups, and external vendors/technology platforms. The CLE Specialist/Sr. Specialist is a key member of the Professional Development team, reporting to the Director and the Senior Manager of Professional Development, and collaborates with the team to ensure Fried Frank attorneys receive best in class CLE training programs and remain up-to-date with professional requirements. The CLE Specialist/Sr. Specialist will have a client-service oriented mindset in communicating with firm stakeholders, will take initiative, and will work closely with the PD team, practice group managers/directors, and Fried Frank attorneys, among others.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience (JD not required).
  • 4–6+ years of CLE administration, professional development, attorney training, or law firm learning experience (multi-office preferred).
  • Demonstrated experience managing CLE provider responsibilities, accreditation submissions, and compliance documentation.
  • Strong project management, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple deadlines accurately.
  • Technology proficiency with CLE tracking systems (Micron preferred)/LMS, webinar platforms, and Microsoft Office (Excel proficiency strongly preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Maintain working knowledge of NY CLE rules (including credit types, reporting periods, carryover, exemptions, and recordkeeping requirements).
  • Monitor individual attorney compliance status; provide periodic reports to PD leadership and targeted reminders/escalations as deadlines approach.
  • Respond to attorney questions regarding credit eligibility, allocation (e.g., ethics/ professionalism), and documentation requirements.
  • Support audit readiness by maintaining complete, organized records and responding to bar requests as needed.
  • Prepare and submit program accreditation/approval applications as required (including supporting documentation such as agendas, timed outlines, faculty bios, and written materials).
  • Ensure CLE certifications/attendance confirmations are administered accurately for live, webinar, and on-demand formats.
  • Partner with practice groups to build and execute an annual CLE curriculum and calendar aligned to attorney development needs.
  • Manage the end-to-end lifecycle for CLE programs: intake, scheduling, faculty coordination, materials collection, accreditation steps, delivery, and post-program wrap-up.
  • Implement and maintain an on-demand CLE catalog, including course packaging, publishing workflows, expiration/archiving, and periodic content refresh.
  • Track utilization and effectiveness metrics (participation, hours delivered, curriculum coverage, compliance rates) and recommend improvements.
  • Serve as the point of contact for CLE-related vendors and platforms (LMS/on-demand hosting, webinar tools, evaluation tools).
  • Support internal faculty/presenters to ensure materials meet accreditation standards and are submitted on time.
  • Help to maintain attorney CLE records, including creating accounts for new attorneys, acquiring CLE records for laterally hired attorneys, and deactivating departing attorney accounts. Prepare/provide departure CLE records for departing attorneys.
