WORKING CONDITIONS/ HAZARDS: Frequent contact with water(handwashing, biohazardous body fluids; possible needlepunctures; possible sensitivity to latex. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Standing, walking, bending, sitting, light lifting. CONTACTS: Patients (families), physicians, nurses, laboratory and other hospital personnel. MAIN FUNCTIONS: The Phlebotomist assumes the responsibility for performing venipuncture & related procedures under the philosophy, policies, &procedures established by the hospital and the laboratory. May require candidate to work along in lab with little to no supervision. NEED SOMEONE WITH AN ADEQUATE AMOUNT OF ACTUAL PHLEBOTOMY EXPERIENCE IN EITHER A HOSPITAL SETTING,OUTPATIENT DRAWING STATION, OR A HIGH VOLUME DOCTORS OFFICE. ALSO GOOD COMPUTER SKILLS WOULD BE A PLUS. May include serving as a super user for the departments main LIS system which includes ensuring the system is functioning to the departments standard. Reporting potential problems and issues. Testing functionality duringupgrades to resolve potential problems.
