About The Position

Under the direction of the Clerkship Director and/or Assistant Director, the Clerkship Coordinator oversees the daily management of the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) undergraduate program. Some of the duties include ensuring compliance of accreditation requirements, policies and guidelines, and state and federal regulations; overseeing the rotation of the M3 Core Clerkship and M4 Junior Internship; supervising the medical student program, maintaining evaluations, grades, student time logs, and medical case log reports across state; and determining student assignments to various hospitals, creates schedules accordingly, and arranges necessary medical school training (lectures, labs, etc.).

Requirements

  • EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)
  • EXPERIENCE: One (1) year of related work experience; OR Associate’s Degree and three (3) years of related work experience; OR a combination of education and experience to equal five (5) years
  • KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Ability to manage time and work on multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to work with little supervision and maintain confidentiality.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to think and work independently as well as collaboratively.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

  • Provides support for the Clerkship Director and/or Assistant Director by managing all clinical rotations for medical students in the College of Medicine.
  • Oversees the rotation of the M3 Core Clerkship students.
  • Assists with overseeing the clerkship programs of all UT campuses.
  • Gathers and submits appropriate documentation to the Office of Medical Education, along with coordinating the institutional self-study period prior to LCME site visits.
  • Manages student clinical assignments (inpatient teams, outpatient clinics, subspecialty rotations, etc.), which includes accommodating student requests for preferred educational experiences when possible.
  • Manages the Aquifer Family Medicine Practice Shelf exam and monitors the Aquifer FM cases.
  • Coordinates, orders, and proctors the National Board of Examiners (NBME) subject web exam and M3 student oral exams (varies by discipline).
  • Supervises the M4 Junior Internship; coordinates student assignments at various hospitals/clinics; provides faculty and staff with necessary student information, schedules, and photos on each service; and assigns, tracks, and records grades of student evaluations.
  • Manages, assigns, tracks, and records grades for student evaluations, exam scores, and collects all necessary components to determine final grades for all sites with assistance.
  • Helps coordinate orientation, assemble packets, set-up laptop/projector, and present necessary information to the students.
  • Liaisons with students, faculty, residents, community faculty, sites, and school administration regarding student rotations.
  • Establishes, updates, and maintains confidential student records for all campuses.
  • Ensures all UT campuses across the state are consistent with the Liaison Committee on Medical.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
