About The Position

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Client Sales Manager/Senior Client Sales Manager to join the Hachette Book Group Client Division. This position will work closely with the Client Imprint Sales Director and the sales team to help increase sales and maximize backlist opportunities each season. This position will be essential in communication and collaboration between sales and all clients and will offer an opportunity to learn about publishing in a fast-paced environment. The candidate should be detail oriented with strong execution, adaptable to working with internal and external teams, and adept at juggling multiple deadlines simultaneously. This role may be filled at the Manager or Senior Manager level depending on the candidate’s experience and qualifications. Candidates with approximately 5+ years of relevant experience will be considered for the Manager level, while those with 7+ years of experience and demonstrated advanced expertise may be considered for the Senior Manager level.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years prior client services or sales experience with a working knowledge of key accounts preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with exceptional critical thinking and attention to detail.
  • Ability to thrive under pressure, effectively problem solve, with enthusiasm to take initiative, and confidence to maintain and grow key publisher relationships.
  • Strong interpersonal and written communication skills to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders at all levels, and sales analysis and presentation skills.
  • Expertise with Microsoft Office, with a specific focus on Excel, PowerPoint, and an interest to learn new systems and applications.
  • Solid understanding of the entire publishing industry and process.
  • Solutions-focused when met with challenges and can comfortably adapt to changes, and ability to work both independently and collaboratively across multiple departments.

Responsibilities

  • Own day-to-day relationships with client publishers, addressing questions and requests and sharing sales and marketing updates and announcements with sales teams.
  • Regularly create, manage and analyze sales reports for frontlist, backlist and reorder opportunities.
  • Set and manage achievable goals based on current marketplace and publishers’ expectations and manage ongoing sales and merchandising discussions between reps and publishers.
  • Work with inventory and client publishers to anticipate stock needs and collect and communicate complex processes into clear and actionable insights with relevant teams.
  • Assist with planning agendas and running various meetings, ensuring all sales assets and materials – covers, interiors, fact sheets, sell-sheets - are available for sales ahead of sales call deadlines, and liaise between client publishers and reps for material requests.
