About The Position

We are seeking a Clinical Data Abstractor III in Silver Spring, MD to manage delivery of high-quality data for our Vision Center of Excellence customer. In this role, you will enter abstracted data into the Defense and Veterans Eye Injury Vision Registry (DVEIVR) based on business rules, procedural requirements, and individual judgment in applying those requirements for the Data Abstraction Support Services Project (DASS Project).

Requirements

  • BS degree with 2+ years of relevant experience
  • 7+ years in a medical, clinical or research related position
  • Clinical background or medical knowledge in ophthalmology research, organized and detail oriented
  • Experience with DVEIVR, JLV and Genesis systems
  • Able to meet required production and 98+% accuracy
  • This position requires the ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance and to maintain the clearance which requires US Citizenship.

Nice To Haves

  • Excellent computer skills and experience in creating and generating reports
  • Experience with DHA, VA or military health records
  • MD, RN, MBA or BS with ongoing accreditation and certs (i.e., CCRP)
  • MS in a health-related field, and 3+ years of relevant experience

Responsibilities

  • Analyze medical content of source documents and abstracts data related to eye injuries, conditions, diseases, or visual dysfunction from electronic computable and non-computable medical records from various Department of Defense (DoD) data sources
  • Enter abstracted data into the Defense and Veterans Eye Injury Vision Registry (DVEIVR) based on business rules, procedural requirements, and individual judgment; independently conducts data abstraction with high quality, performing abstraction with a minimal level of guidance and direction
  • Perform self-audits
  • Identify and document possible suggestions for improving the data abstraction process
  • Assist leaders and program management in coordinating and producing reports for special projects
  • Ensure consistency, accuracy, and adherence to federal regulations, Good Clinical Practice, Good Clinical Data Abstraction Practices, as well as SOPs
  • Develop and maintain good communications and working relationships within project staff and management team
  • Communicate key project issues to management
  • Manages and submits weekly spreadsheet of DVEIVR submissions
  • Manages patient information according to privacy and security regulations including but not limited to HIPAA and The HITECH ACT
  • Able to assist and answer questions for lower-level data abstractors
  • Perform other duties as directed by Clinical Staff Supervisor or project management
