About The Position

CASES is seeking a Clinical Director who will provide leadership in staff learning and development with a particular emphasis on evidence-based practices and trauma-informed interventions that are appropriate for the varied populations the program serves, including individuals with current or past criminal justice involvement, and a wide range of behavioral health needs. The Clinical Director of IMT should be highly experienced in mental health diagnosis, client documentation, incident reporting, treatment for people living with serious mental illnesses, co-occurring substance use disorders, and co-morbid medical conditions. The Clinical Director of Intensive Mobile Treatment (IMT) is responsible for oversight and leadership of all clinical aspects of the Intense Mobile Treatment Department including staff training and development. We are seeking a seasoned mission-driven clinician with proven leadership, direct service experience, and supervision skills to assist our staff in delivering services to the highest standards of a community-based, behavioral health program. The Clinical Director will assist staff by modeling, teaching, and utilizing approaches rooted in Trauma-informed Care, Motivational Interviewing (MI) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). The position will require educating, mentoring, and inspiring multi-disciplinary staff across the IMT’s program, in accordance with NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH). The Clinical Director will ensure staff receive on-going guidance and support to assist in making progress with the most vulnerable individuals we serve.

Requirements

  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a minimum of five years of relevant direct service experience.
  • Ability to take initiative, prioritize duties, problem solve, meet deadlines, work well under pressure and maintain a positive, enthusiastic work ethic.
  • Documented experience training staff in a social service setting
  • Knowledge and ability to apply Evidenced-based approaches to appropriate clinical situations in a behavioral health program setting.
  • Availability to work during established program times and travel to various client sites toa company necessary, in the 5 IMT boroughs.
  • Strong foundation in CBT, Trauma-informed Care, Crisis Response and Cultural Competency
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse teams

Responsibilities

  • Consult and collaborate to plan and refine clinical aspects of the program and enhance the overall participant experience.
  • Serve as a liaison to the Quality, Data & Analytics and Evaluation units to coordinate responses to emerging trends in clinical presentation that address the needs of participants, with data-driven decision making.
  • Identify, monitor, and track key performance metrics that may be measured to evaluate program opportunities for improvements.
  • Present as a liaison between NYCDOHMH and city-wide IMT agencies, during NYCDOHMH meetings with primary management and clinical oversight in accordance with NYCDOHMH procedures.
  • Directly plan, guide and support the work of the IMT team.
  • Coach and develop staff’s practice skills by providing live and virtual training on a variety of topics such as assessment, documentation, risk management and other areas
  • Facilitate and participate in individual and group supervision to enable staff development and progress toward higher levels of professional licensure
  • Assist in the development and delivery of clinical training for staff and interns
  • Identify training needs and contribute to ongoing professional development initiatives
  • Support staff growth through feedback, coaching and skills development
  • Provide individual and group clinical supervision to staff working towards licensure and clinical hour requirements. (Must have SIFI), engage staff in weekly social work supervision group.
  • Support the team leaders with clinical decision making and case consultation
  • Responsible for the development and implementation of evidence-based approaches within the department, including the coordination of new initiatives designed to improve services for participants and the work quality of direct service staff
  • Collaborate with site managers in facilitating clinical and high-risk meetings to support positive outcomes for participants who present with complex needs
  • Provide expert clinical consultation to direct service staff and supervisors in multiple formats that is consistent with the organization’s mission, vision and values
  • Assist staff in crisis assessments, intervention, and de-scalation in accordance with established protocols
  • Help ensure we maintain a safe working environment by reporting any hazards or unsafe conditions, e.g., liquid spill in hallway, to the appropriate facilities staff member or supervisor.
  • Monitor and evaluate the quality of clinical services provided to ensure high standards of care
  • Conduct regular audits of clinical documentation to ensure accuracy, completeness and compliance with city regulations.
  • Identify areas for improvement, corrective actions or clinical enhancements as needed.
  • Assist with interviewing, hiring and onboarding clinical staff and interns supporting the Senior Director.
  • Supporting new hires by ensuring orientation is complete, clinical expectations and early supervision.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Quality Director.
