About The Position

The Clinical Educator is responsible for the coordination, planning, supervision, instruction, and evaluation of students in clinical settings. This role ensures high-quality clinical training experiences that integrate didactic knowledge with patient-centered care while supporting programmatic, institutional, and accreditation standards. The Clinical Educator fosters student competency development, professional growth, and clinical excellence.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Chiropractic Degree from an accredited chiropractic college
  • Licensed or eligible to be licensed in good standing in the state of Kansas
  • Minimum 3 years clinical experience
  • Must be able to commit to a 40 hour per week schedule
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with colleagues and supervisory staff.
  • May be exposed to short, intermittent and/or prolonged periods of sitting and/or standing in performance of job duties.
  • May be required to accomplish job duties using various types of equipment/supplies to include, but not limited to, pens, pencils, calculators, computer keyboards, telephones, etc.
  • May be exposed to prolonged periods of computer usage.
  • May be required to be available outside of normal business hours.
  • May be required to transport oneself to other campus offices, conference rooms, and, on occasion, to off-campus sites to attend meetings, conferences, workshops, seminars, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Support of Mission Contributes to collaborative planning and development of clinical education initiatives aligned with the university’s mission.
  • Exercises stewardship of clinical facilities, equipment, materials, and university resources.
  • Supports recruitment, retention, and professional development of students, faculty, and staff.
  • Promotes a culture of clinical excellence, professionalism, and patient-centered care.
  • Clinical Teaching and Supervision Provides direct supervision and instruction of students in clinical environments.
  • Demonstrates current, evidence-informed clinical practice and professional standards.
  • Guides students in clinical reasoning, patient management, documentation, and ethical decision-making.
  • Integrates innovative instructional strategies to enhance clinical skill development and competency achievement.
  • Ensures safe, effective, and high-quality patient care in all supervised clinical activities.
  • Clinical Curriculum and Instructional Support Supports the implementation and delivery of clinical curricula under the guidance of course or program leadership.
  • Maintains familiarity with current clinical competencies, assessment tools, and instructional materials to effectively supervise and evaluate students.
  • Recommends clinical resources and evidence-based materials to support student learning.
  • Participates in calibration and standardization efforts to ensure consistency in clinical instruction and evaluation.
  • Student Evaluation and Assessment Assesses student clinical performance using established competencies and evaluation tools.
  • Provides timely, constructive feedback to support student growth and remediation when necessary.
  • Maintains accurate and current documentation of student progress and clinical requirements.
  • Follows established institutional policies regarding grading, evaluation, and reporting.
  • Professional Development Maintains discipline-specific clinical licensure and professional competency.
  • Pursues continued development in clinical practice, pedagogy, and assessment methodologies.
  • Engages in scholarly activities related to clinical education and/or patient care.
  • Participates in professional organizations and continuing education activities relevant to clinical practice.
  • Compliance and Regulatory Standards Maintains knowledge of accreditation standards, state and federal regulations, and institutional policies impacting clinical education.
  • Ensures clinical activities comply with regulatory requirements, including safety and documentation standards.
  • Maintains confidentiality in accordance with FERPA and protected health information regulations (e.g., HIPAA).
  • Promotes adherence to risk management, infection control, and patient safety protocols.
  • Service Participates in clinical program meetings, committees, and governance activities.
  • Supports community outreach initiatives, health promotion activities, and clinical service events.
  • Contributes to the continuous quality improvement of the clinical education program.
  • Professionalism Demonstrates professional communication in clinical, academic, and administrative settings.
  • Maintains professional boundaries with students and patients that uphold the integrity of the educator role.
  • Models ethical conduct, accountability, and collaborative practice.
  • Miscellaneous Performs additional duties as assigned to support clinical operations and educational effectiveness.
  • Participates in institutional events and initiatives that advance the mission of the university.
