Work Shift Job Summary: With the supervision of the Clinical Intake Manager, in a fast-paced and critical care environment, this job serves as the gateway to facilitate 24/7 psychiatric screenings and acute psychiatric placement for behavioral health patients located at WMCG.

Requirements

  • Required Minimum Education: Masters Other
  • Required Minimum License(s) and Certification(s): All certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated. Additional License(s) and Certification(s): Licensure in the respective field: LAPC, LPC, LMSW, LCSW Upon Hire
  • Preferred Required Minimum Experience: education clarification: Master's in Human Services or related field. Additional years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of minimum education requirement.
  • Required and Minimum 5 years behavioral health intake and triage, mental health assessments in an ER setting.

Responsibilities

  • Provides 24/7 on-site mental health assessments for patients presenting in AUMC ER for behavioral health care by Completing a psychiatric assessment and identifying a disposition.
  • Assists with the completion of Mental Health and Substance Abuse commitment orders by scribing clinical documentation based on psychiatric assessment.
  • Compiles clinical information and refer patients to acute psychiatric facilities (this applies to patients located in ED and/or on a Medical Floor).
  • Completes documentation and consistently communicates updates regarding patients acute psychiatric placement by Staffing each clinical case with psychiatrist post-assessment and updating medical and nursing staff regarding the plan.
  • Discussing a plan of care with the family.
  • Providing updated clinical information to outside providers, coordinating physician to physician calls, and documenting the status of the case on dept log.
  • Assisting the guardian in the completion of consent paperwork for adolescent patients.
  • Responds to outside crisis call via telephone.
  • Provides callers with information regarding resources available for mental health and substance abuse treatment.
  • Educates callers about the referral process for obtaining acute psychiatric treatment.
  • Contacts law enforcement and or emergency command center for active suicidal or homicidal patients that do not have a safety plan.
  • Provides on-call back up coverage when Clinical Intake Manager is on leave by Being available to fellow Clinical Intake Coordinators to answer questions regarding the assessment and referral of acute psychiatric cases.
  • Identifies and changes department schedule if there is a call out for a scheduled shift.
  • Works a scheduled shift, if no coverage is obtained for the department.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Complies with all Wellstar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.
