About The Position

Reporting to the Pharmacist in Charge, the Clinical Intervention Center Pharmacist (CIC RPh) plays a critical role in the healthcare industry by ensuring the safe and effective use of medications. The primary responsibilities of the CIC RPh involve monitoring clinical clarifications, change in prescriptions, backorders and anything else that would hinder the dispensing of medication to a patient. They are also responsible for communication with nursing centers and collaborating with healthcare professionals to optimize patient care.

Requirements

  • Doctorate of Pharmacy
  • Active State Pharmacist license
  • State license to handle medication
  • 1-3 years of pharmaceutical experience; or an equivalent mix of education and experience
  • 2-4 years long term care pharmacy experience preferred.
  • Intermediate proficiency with Pharmacy and medication distribution software (Pyxis Medbank, Frameworks, Experience with long term care pharmacy software preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as medication documentation, business correspondence and procedure manuals; ability to write routine reports and business correspondence; ability to speak effectively, both in person and by telephone, to customers or employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs; ability to understand and interpret statistical reports, data charts and graphs.

Nice To Haves

  • 2-4 years long term care pharmacy experience preferred.
  • Experience with long term care pharmacy software preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for monitoring and following up on clinical clarifications utilizing eMAR system, dispensing history, and direct communication with the center. Should clear old pending clarifications from queue based on new orders received or non-responsiveness by profiling or deleting orders.
  • Review and approve Change in Prescription suggestions based on payer preference utilizing the ECS message and test claims.
  • Review and Approve therapeutic interchange suggestions for non-auto TI states.
  • Communicate national backorder issues with center. Determine if alternative orders are required or for short term out of stock issues, utilizing backup pharmacies.
  • Respond to email and other electronic communication (internal and external) including requests for RX Verify control withdrawals (if appropriately licensed).
  • Review emergency CII prescriptions and contact the center or MD to ensure timely receipt of hardcopies.
  • All other duties as assigned.
