JOB SUMMARY Reporting directly to the Clinical Events Manager, the Clinical Lab Technician is a cross-functional role supporting both veterinary clinical operations and human bioskills laboratory operations within Viticus Group. This position is responsible for providing hands-on support during animal health and human health training events, including surgical preparation, laboratory setup, specimen handling and preparation, animal and kennel care, animal transport, instrumentation management, and overall event logistics. The Clinical Lab Technician ensures compliance with safety standards, maintains a high level of cleanliness and operational readiness across all lab spaces, and provides exceptional support to instructors, clinicians, participants, and internal teams.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous experience working in a veterinary, medical, bioskills, laboratory, or clinical environment.
  • Hands-on experience supporting clinical or laboratory operations, including setup, breakdown, and procedural support.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to clearly convey technical and procedural information.
  • Ability to interact professionally with instructors, clinicians, participants, clients, and internal teams.
  • Ability to safely perform and assist with clinical and laboratory procedures within scope, including bioskills and veterinary support functions.
  • Demonstrated understanding of laboratory workflows, instrumentation handling, specimen preparation, and procedural support.
  • Ability to follow detailed protocols, surgical preparation standards, and safety guidelines with consistency and accuracy.
  • Ability to assess situations, identify issues, and take appropriate action in fast-paced clinical and laboratory environments.
  • Flexibility to work variable schedules, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing event needs, procedures, and environments.
  • Demonstrates a strong work ethic; dependable, punctual, and accountable.

  • Close vision required to see computer monitors, read documents, and operate copy and fax machines.
  • Distance vision is required to drive an automobile if driving is a requirement of the job.

Nice To Haves

  • Postsecondary education or formal training in veterinary technology, medical assisting, bioskills, laboratory sciences, or a related field preferred.
  • Relevant certifications or licensure (e.g., veterinary technician, laboratory technician) preferred, as applicable to scope and statutory requirement.
  • Experience working in fast-paced, event-based, or training environments preferred.
  • Familiarity with both animal health procedures and human bioskills laboratory workflows is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Laboratory & Clinical Operations: Set up and break down all rooms scheduled for laboratory and clinical events.
  • Laboratory & Clinical Operations: Assist clients in the laboratory as needed.
  • Laboratory & Clinical Operations: Set out instruments for lab use and ensure stations are fully stocked.
  • Laboratory & Clinical Operations: Prepare shipping and receiving materials related to laboratory operations.
  • Laboratory & Clinical Operations: Assist clients with scheduling pick-up of packages.
  • Animal Care & Veterinary Support: Perform venipuncture.
  • Animal Care & Veterinary Support: Monitor anesthesia.
  • Animal Care & Veterinary Support: Assist with and perform radiography.
  • Animal Care & Veterinary Support: Administer medications as directed.
  • Animal Care & Veterinary Support: Perform animal restraint and handling, including large animals.
  • Animal Care & Veterinary Support: Provide routine animal husbandry.
  • Animal Care & Veterinary Support: Monitor animal health and behavior
  • Animal Care & Veterinary Support: Maintain inventory of food, bedding, cleaning agents, operate autoclaves/disinfectors, and ensure proper waste segregation and disposal.
  • Animal Care & Veterinary Support: Prepare surgical packs, including sterilization
  • Equipment, Supplies & Inventory Management: Stock and maintain medical supplies and personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Equipment, Supplies & Inventory Management: Maintain inventory of laboratory and medical supplies.
  • Equipment, Supplies & Inventory Management: Manage shipping and receiving of laboratory materials.
  • Equipment, Supplies & Inventory Management: Maintain laboratory equipment and instruments, report deficiencies, and remove unsafe equipment from service.
  • Sanitation, Safety & Compliance: Ensure lab stations, instruments, and rooms are cleaned, sanitized, and ready for use.
  • Sanitation, Safety & Compliance: Maintain a high standard of cleanliness throughout the facility.
  • Sanitation, Safety & Compliance: Ensure compliance with all organizational policies and procedures.
  • Sanitation, Safety & Compliance: Report safety hazards, equipment issues, and policy violations promptly.
  • Sanitation, Safety & Compliance: Perform all duties in accordance with statutes set forth by the Tennessee State Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners.
  • Driving, transportation & Logistics Safely operate company vehicles to pick up and deliver human anatomical specimens, live animals, equipment, and supplies. Plan routes and schedules to meet program timelines
  • Driving, transportation & Logistics Conduct pre-/post-trip inspections; maintain mileage, temperature, and chain-of-custody logs; comply with DOT/state rules and organizational SOPs.
  • Driving, transportation & Logistics Follow biohazard packaging/labeling, spill response, and decontamination procedures; maintain clean vehicles and transport containers.
  • Driving, transportation & Logistics Maintain a valid State driver’s license and insurable driving record; obtain/maintain medical clearance and/or CDL if required by business needs.
  • Driving, transportation & Logistics Provide professional customer service during pickups/deliveries; coordinate with vendors, shelters, clinics, and internal stakeholders.
  • Client & Team Engagement: Greet clients in a professional, courteous, and welcoming manner.
