The Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE) supports high-quality, consistent, and evidence-based clinical practice across the clinical staff. This role focuses on clinical workflow development, staff education and training, clinical skills monitoring and oversight, best-practice review, and efficient use of the electronic medical record (EHR). The CNE works collaboratively with leadership, clinical staff, and providers to promote safe, efficient, and family-centered pediatric care.

Requirements

  • Active, unrestricted Oregon Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • Minimum of 5 years of pediatric-focused nursing experience
  • Strong clinical knowledge of pediatric outpatient care
  • Demonstrated experience in staff education, training, or clinical leadership
  • Excellent communication, organization, and collaboration skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in outpatient pediatric or ambulatory care settings
  • Epic EHR experience
  • Experience with workflow redesign, quality improvement, or clinical operations
  • Prior role as a nurse educator, preceptor, or clinical trainer

Responsibilities

  • Develop, coordinate, and deliver onboarding and ongoing education for medical assistants, nursing and other clinical support staff.
  • Provide hands-on clinical skills training, validation, and competency assessments.
  • Utilize incident reporting tools to identify and remediate safety and training concerns.
  • Identify learning needs and design education plans to support clinical excellence and regulatory compliance.
  • Serve as a clinical resource and mentor to nursing and clinical staff across clinics.
  • Evaluate existing clinical workflows and collaborate with stakeholders to design and implement improvements.
  • Ensure workflows align with evidence-based practice, organizational standards, and pediatric-specific guidelines.
  • Review and disseminate best practices, clinical updates, and practice changes.
  • Support standardization of care processes across clinic locations.
  • Monitor clinical performance and adherence to established standards and competencies.
  • Partner with quality, safety, and leadership teams to support quality improvement initiatives.
  • Completes regular audits, policy development, and practice evaluations as needed.
  • Support efficient and accurate use of the EHR related to documentation of clinical workflows, medication and immunization administration, documentation of patient clinical information, and other clinical inputs.
  • Collaborate with clinical and operational teams to improve documentation workflows and clinical tools.
  • Provide staff education related to EHR functionality, updates, and best practices in conjunction with members of the informatics team.
