About The Position

This position requires RN License in CT and local residency, work is on site Position Purpose The position of Clinical Quality and Performance Improvement Specialist is a combined role that oversees the functions of quality and performance improvement, data, and regulatory at Johnson Memorial Hospital and oversight of regulatory at Mercy Medical Center. This position must maintain a compliant, comprehensive, organization-wide, Safety, Quality and Performance Improvement program and has the responsibility and accountability for working to assess, plan, and organize overall regulatory compliance and readiness (e.g. CMS, DPH/DOH, TJC, MassHealth, etc.) as well as to participate in the improvement of key processes, policies and procedures as they relate to regulatory compliance.

Requirements

  • Connecticut RN license required
  • Five (5) years’ hospital experience preferred
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements, patient quality of care and safety initiatives, and quality indicators
  • Proficiency in data collection and data analysis for quality and safety performance improvement
  • Must be well versed in statistics, data analysis and statistical process control (SPC)

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree in Nursing, Healthcare, or related field preferred
  • RCA or Lean Management skills preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide key regulatory, safety and quality data, highlighting business and operational issues requiring management attention and resources
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards (TJC, CMS, DPH/DOH, etc.) for quality and safety reporting
  • Provide coordination of adverse/sentinel event and complaint investigations, root cause analysis, and ensure related improvement plans are met for safety issues recognized by JC, DPH/DOH, and CMS
  • Manage performance improvement activities surrounding safety events, precursor safety events and near misses, including the PSI-90s
  • Investigate the underlying causes of performance issues and quality problems to implement effective solutions
  • Coordinate efforts to investigate, notify and address safety concerns related to Adverse Events
  • Provide leadership and guidance for initiatives seeking to improve safe care delivery models and processes
