About The Position

The Medical Practice Evaluation Center (MPEC) is seeking a bilingual (English and Portuguese) Research Assistant (Clinical Research Coordinators) to work with an internationally recognized multidisciplinary team from Massachusetts General Hospital to support sexual health and HIV-prevention studies in Boston. The targeted start date for this position is March 2026. The bilingual Research Assistant will support recruitment and data collection for a study with Portuguese-speaking patients at Boston’s community health organizations. Summary:Following established policies, procedures, and study protocols, provides assistance on clinical research studies, including recruiting, evaluating, and consenting patients for studies; collecting and organizing patient data; scheduling patients for study visits; performing clinical tests such as phlebotomy, EKGs, etc.; maintaining and updating data generated by the study. Candidates who are in the process of completing their bachelor's degree have a grace period of six months from their hire date (up to 1 year if starting per diem) to provide degree equivalency verification.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior research or work experience in qualitative research is an advantage.
  • Experience working on community-based sexual health in Boston strongly preferred.
  • Fluency in both Spanish and Portuguese.

Responsibilities

  • Completing study- and skill-specific trainings in our research protocol and the conduct of qualitative research.
  • Leading semi-structured interviews with Portuguese-speaking research participants on subjects related to sexual health and HIV prevention.
  • Conducting informed consent conversations with Portuguese-speaking research participants.
  • Completing additional memos/field notes about research encounters.
  • Contributing documentation as required by study protocols to maintain Good Clinical Practice and research management best practices.
  • Assisting in reviewing research findings and output for submission to academic conferences, journals, or community dissemination.
  • Providing administrative support as needed, including scheduling interviews and communicating with research participants with Portuguese-speaking patients.
  • Reviews proposals for compliance with sponsor and organizational guidelines; verify all sponsor requirements are met.
  • Recruiting patients for clinical trials, conducts phone interviews.
  • Verifies the accuracy of study forms and updates them per protocol.
  • Prepares data for analysis and data entry.
  • Documents patient visits and procedures.
  • Assists with regulatory binders and QA/QC Procedures.
  • Assists with interviewing study subjects.
  • Assists with study regulator submissions.
