About The Position

The Penn State College of Medicine, Department of Pediatrics Hematology Oncology, in Hershey, PA, is seeking a candidate for a Clinical Research Coordinator to facilitate human subjects research. The successful candidate will be responsible for the following: Conduct human subjects research under general direction of faculty and/or senior research personnel and according to standard protocols or research plans, including consenting potential participants for non-interventional studies. Engage in cross-functional collaboration with clinical staff across several departments (e.g., pathology, surgery, translational lab, and infusion clinic) for research specimen collection. Process, store and/ or ship study specimens per study-provided protocols. May be responsible for the operation of a specialized laboratory or research area within a department and tracking related metrics for data analysis and reporting. May oversee day-to-day operations of study projects Collect data from multiple sources, recognize and report data discrepancies, and, utilizing REDCap, follow data collection and entry protocols through a series of related detailed steps or processes Initiate or contribute data/analysis/design for use in technical reports, documents, proposals, or oral/written presentations Prepares reports, drafts manuscripts, and may present data at meetings and conferences Train users in equipment operation and research techniques, explain and demonstrate technology and equipment capabilities, operations limitations and outcomes As assigned, track study visit related expenses using Penn State’s STAR system. Track inventory of specimen collection kits and request to order as needed May train and oversee lower-level staff, wage employees and/or students

Requirements

  • If filled as Clinical Research Coordinator - Intermediate Professional, this position requires: Bachelor's Degree 1+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted Required Certifications: None
  • If filled as Clinical Research Coordinator - Professional, this position requires: Bachelor's Degree No prior relevant work experience required; previous relevant work experience accepted in lieu of education. Required Certifications: None
  • BACKGROUND CHECKS/CLEARANCES This position requires the following clearances in addition to applicable background checks: PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check.
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S.
