About The Position

Palo Alto Veterans Institute for Research (PAVIR) supports the nation's second largest research program conducted among the VA Hospitals and is seeking a part-time Clinical Research Coordinator. The Clinical Research Coordinator will support a randomized controlled clinical trial focused on conducting in-home assessments with Spanish-speaking participants. This position requires an experienced, reliable individual with related research or community-based fieldwork experience. The Research Coordinator will independently manage complex field logistics, maintain high-quality data collection, and may provide guidance to other staff during visits. The role is intermittent and flexible, averaging 0–15 hours per week, with an estimated total of approximately 100 hours through August. Spanish fluency is required. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 0-1 year of related experience in clinical care, research, clinical studies, community-based data collection, or similar work involving Spanish-speaking populations.
  • Demonstrated reliability; comfort with community-based work.
  • Spanish fluency required.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to interact respectfully with participants in their homes.
  • Ability to follow a standardized assessment protocol consistently.
  • Strong organizational skills and reliability.
  • Comfort traveling to various community locations; willingness to work occasional Sundays if preferred for scheduling.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Nice To Haves

  • Undergraduate coursework or degree in Biological Sciences, Psychology, Public Health, or related field
  • Experience in research, data collection, or community outreach; experience working with Spanish-speaking populations.
  • Experience independently managing fieldwork and coordinating logistics.
  • Valid driver's license preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead in-home assessment visits with Spanish-speaking participants enrolled in a randomized controlled clinical trial. Ensure adherence to the standardized assessment protocol and troubleshoot routine issues independently. Work in pairs with Dr. Liu or another team member for safety; Dr. Liu will accompany and drive to all or majority of visits. It is anticipated that majority of visits will be scheduled on weekends so availability during these times is required.
  • Independently prepare study materials, ensure data accuracy, maintain detailed visit documentation, and uphold data integrity standards.
  • Other tasks as assigned.
