About The Position

The Department of Pediatrics is seeking a Clinical Research Project Supervisor to support clinical research activities within the department with a particular emphasis on neonatal-perinatal, neurological, and neurodevelopmental studies that may span single center, multidisciplinary, multidivisional, and/or multicenter research efforts that may utilize multiple UW facilities and programs to accomplish these studies. The Clinical Research Project Supervisor provides day-to-day supervision of clinical research staff and serves as a primary resource, and content expert, for investigators and study teams conducting complex clinical trials that incorporate neuroimaging, biomarkers, neurobehavioral assessments, and neurodevelopmental and psychiatric evaluations into research protocols. This role contributes to the planning, implementation, and coordination of clinical trial activities across multiple studies and investigators, ensuring high-quality study conduct, regulatory compliance, and effective trial execution. The supervisor assigns and oversees project coordination services, supports education and training initiatives for research staff, and assists with the development of procedures that promote consistency and quality in clinical trial coordination. In addition to supervisory responsibilities, this position partners closely with investigators to support the development of protocols, related study documents, manuscripts, and grant materials, and may maintain a portfolio of assigned studies. The position functions as a key resource for integrating specialized data collection approaches into clinical research workflows and supports teams in navigating the operational requirements of complex, multidisciplinary trials.

Requirements

  • Experience coordinating clinical research studies.
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience in clinical research.
  • Experience with research data collection and sample processing.
  • Previous experience with OnCore, eBinders, Electronic Health Records (preferably EPIC), and/or REDCap.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum two (2) years of experience in conducting studies that use fetal and postnatal magnetic resonance imaging.
  • Experience with basic and more complex aspects of acquiring, processing, and analyzing magnetic resonance imaging data.
  • Knowledge in creating processes and procedures for conducting neurodevelopmental research.
  • Expertise in performing common standardized neurobehavioral, neurodevelopmental, and psychiatric assessments in a pediatric population.
  • Expertise in design, implementation, and maintenance of complex REDCap databases.

Responsibilities

  • Supports staff in developing and maintaining databases for clinical research and provides guidance on data management
  • Assists investigators with preparation of scientific content and clinical research resource planning for grant and funding submissions
  • Provides assistance with education and training initiatives.
  • Assists with developing procedures for clinical trial project coordination for the unit
  • Contributes to the planning, development, implementation, and management of administrative clinical trial management functions for a unit or department
  • Contributes to the development of protocols, related documents, manuscripts, and Case Report Forms
  • Exercises supervisory authority, including hiring, transferring, suspending, promoting, managing conduct and performance, discharging, assigning, rewarding, disciplining, and/or approving hours worked of at least 2.0 full-time equivalent (FTE) employees
  • Manages, assigns, and performs clinical trial project coordination services for investigators
