JOB SUMMARY: The Clinical Team Leader in Psychiatry at MAHEC collaborates with the clinical leadership team and operates as the first line of support for staff, faculty, residents, and other ancillary service providers. The Clinical Team Leader assists with maintaining efficient patient flow, quality care, and a positive patient experience within the clinic. Performs the daily duties of the Certified Medical Assistant. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: Communicate in a practical, professional manner. Maintain effective working relationships with all. Provide oversight of daily operations in the Clinic and Laboratory areas where assigned. Provide backup support for the clinical staff when needed. Assists and/or provides direction to staff to facilitate quality patient flow. Assist with clinic scheduling problem-solving, patient wait times, and other areas of concern to increase efficiency and quality services. Plan and assist with the coordination of unit staff schedules and submit for Clinic Manager approval. Organize and assign duties and tasks to clinical team members. In conjunction with clinical leadership, consult with preceptors and orientees regularly to provide support and determine how orientation should proceed individually. Provide clinical/education updates and skill check-offs to the entire staff on a regular basis. Reinforces system changes in the department to ensure staff understands process and workflow changes. Perform Clinical chart audits as needed. Assists with daily and monthly quality assurance checks, including emergency box check-off and survey readiness checklists Coordinate the inventory, ordering, and supply stock maintenance of medical supplies. Perform administrative tasks, project management, clinical care, and other duties as assigned by the Clinical Manager. Initiative and desire to be a clinic leader for our TMS program—skills and tasks include care coordination behind the scenes, intensive training for our Neurostar brand Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation machine, culminating in being able to map out individualized care plans, and carrying out the daily procedures. Responsibilities include filing prior authorizations, scheduling clients, and communicating with insurance companies regarding coverage. Job may include rotating in and out of triage position, taking calls regarding medication refills, exploring barriers or complications to refills with patient’s pharmacies, and passing messages onto nurse and providers as needed Flexibility regarding the daily workflow—clinical services may be scheduled throughout the day, i.e. lab appointments, injections, EKGs with rooming responsibilities as well—checking in patients, obtaining vitals, handing out and collecting screeners, reconciling medications etc. This role description is a general description of the essential job functions.
