About The Position

This Masters level clinical position requires experience with latency-aged youth, knowledge of trauma-informed care and excellent interpersonal skills. The Clinician is responsible for providing trauma informed clinical services to children and their families through individual, dyad, group, and family therapy at Italian Home. The Clinician works with children ages 4-14 that have experienced complex trauma and adversity, impacting their ability to regulate themselves both socially and emotionally. The Clinician is responsible for assessment, intervention, case management and for serving as the primary contact for all involved family members and collaterals, which requires an individual with good organizational skills. Internally, the Clinician works closely with direct care staff and managers, nursing staff, and psychiatrists. The Clinician is expected to provide the highest quality of care to children and families. The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of duties and responsibilities that will be required of positions given this title, but additional responsibilities may be required. Employees are expected to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.

Requirements

  • Masters-level degree in social work, mental health counseling or psychology
  • Massachusetts State Clinical license (LCSW, LICSW, or LMHC) or capacity for advancement towards this licensure
  • 1-2 years post Master’s experience preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills, clinical assessment skills, and knowledge of statewide behavioral health systems
  • Experience working with children and families; experience providing treatment to children with social, emotional, and trauma concerns as well as mental health and developmental disorders
  • Strong knowledge of and application of clinical skills in individual, group, and family therapy interventions
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills, able to multi-task and prioritize, able to meet deadlines
  • Must be receptive and responsive to supervision and professional development
  • Ability to respond to emergencies quickly and safely
  • Maintain strictest confidentiality with respect to agency, employee and client information; adhere to all HIPAA guidelines and regulations
  • Visual and hearing acuity to perform job related functions
  • Physical ability to provide therapeutic physical restraint in situations where it is absolutely necessary

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a case manager for assigned caseload, averaging from 6-10 clients.
  • Provide individual, group and family therapy to clients as clinically indicated.
  • Maintain regular contact with outside collaterals and parents.
  • Relay all significant information to treatment team members and collaborate on treatment goals.
  • Collaborate with milieu staff to co-create a therapeutic and safe learning environment in PHP.
  • Work closely with interdisciplinary treatment team
  • Attend conferences, family group conferences, planning meetings and other relevant clinical meetings
  • Employ strong clinical writing skills to write initial treatment plans, psychosocial assessments, progress notes, safety plans, and discharge summaries in a timely fashion.
  • Learn, implement and demonstrate understanding of agency training philosophy and principles
  • Assist in providing behavioral and physical intervention in accordance with Safety Care training principals.
  • Demonstrate and maintain the agency’s treatment philosophy, values, and mission.
