The Role We are seeking a talented DevOps Engineer to join our professional services engineering team. You'll work directly with mid-sized clients to design, implement, and optimize AWS infrastructure solutions across multiple concurrent projects. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, project execution skills, and client-facing communication abilities as you help our clients leverage the power of the cloud to drive business growth. This role has quarterly travel to our Rochester, NY Headquarters

Requirements

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with core AWS services including EC2, ECS/EKS, Lambda, RDS, S3, VPC, IAM, CloudWatch, and Systems Manager
  • Strong understanding of AWS networking, security groups, NACLs, and connectivity patterns
  • Experience designing highly available, fault-tolerant architectures aligned with AWS Well-Architected Framework principles
  • Knowledge of AWS security best practices and compliance frameworks (SOC 2, HIPAA, PCI-DSS)
  • Proficiency with Terraform or CloudFormation for infrastructure provisioning and management
  • Version control expertise with Git and branching strategies
  • Experience with workload migrations in AWS
  • Experience in modernization of legacy applications to natively run on AWS
  • Ability to create reusable, modular infrastructure code
  • Hands-on experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, AWS CodePipeline, or CircleCI
  • Strong scripting abilities in Python, Bash, or PowerShell
  • Experience with build tools and artifact management
  • Understanding of deployment strategies (blue/green, canary, rolling updates)
  • Working knowledge of Docker containerization
  • Experience with container orchestration platforms (Kubernetes/EKS, ECS)
  • Understanding of service mesh and microservices patterns
  • Familiarity with container security and image management
  • Experience implementing monitoring solutions using CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana, or Datadog
  • Log aggregation and analysis using tools like ELK stack or CloudWatch Logs Insights
  • Ability to establish SLIs, SLOs, and alerting strategies
  • Experience with distributed tracing and application performance monitoring
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple client projects simultaneously
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Experience documenting technical solutions, runbooks, and operational procedures
  • Comfortable working in fast-paced, dynamic environments with shifting priorities
  • Client-facing experience with ability to build trust and credibility
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate (or equivalent Associate-level certification) - Required upon hire or within 90 days
  • AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional - Required within 12 months of hire

  • Experience with serverless architectures and event-driven patterns (Lambda, Step Functions, EventBridge)
  • Knowledge of database administration and performance tuning (RDS, Aurora, DynamoDB)

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement scalable, secure AWS infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices across multiple client engagements simultaneously.
  • You'll build CI/CD pipelines, automate deployment processes, and establish monitoring and observability solutions that enable clients to operate efficiently in the cloud.
  • Working closely with solutions architects and project managers, you'll translate client requirements into technical solutions while maintaining high standards for security, reliability, and performance.
  • Collaborate with client technical teams to implement DevOps best practices, troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues, and provide knowledge transfer to ensure long-term success.
  • You'll balance multiple project priorities, adapt to varying client environments, and contribute to our internal tooling and methodology improvements.
  • Your work will directly support our AWS DevOps Competency and help clients achieve their digital transformation objectives.
