About The Position

Peraton is looking for a Cloud Engineer experienced in Google/Workspace to plan and configure new cloud environments and support administration of users and service features, development, and modernization in support of a government multi-cloud environment. The applicant must have engineering cloud experience and extensive Google Cloud Platform and Workspace knowledge. Duties will include new environment planning and deployment, policy and security controls configuration, risk mitigation, and other tasks as needed to implement and maintain a secure Google environment. The applicant must understand and utilize the features that are included with the Google Assured Controls Plus license (as well as the other license types) and be able to perform external integration with other applications as needed to meet customer requirements. Core duties include deploying services (such as Compute Engine, Storage, GKE), managing Identity & Access Management (IAM), troubleshooting issues, ensuring data security, maintaining user accounts, security, performance, resource optimization, and collaborating with teams on new deployments and process improvements, often using scripting for automation. A passion for performance, strong desire for quality conformance, and attention to detail are prerequisites for this position.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree and 5 years of experience or a High School diploma and 9 years of experience.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain/maintain a DHS Public Trust
  • 5+ years of integration, systems analysis, or programming experience
  • 3+ years of developing systems requirements and design specifications in Google
  • Experience collaborating with technical teams of diverse IT related skill sets
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of Azure cloud and deployment in Government environments.
  • Exemplary communication, analytical skills, and technical knowledge across the client environment.
  • Ability to produce concise and clear technical documentation.
  • Must have excellent communication skills
  • Google Cloud Certification

Responsibilities

  • Infrastructure Management: Plan, deploy, configure, new environments and maintain GCP services (Compute Engine, GKE, Cloud Storage, VPC, etc.).
  • Security & Compliance: Implement security protocols, manage firewalls, monitor for threats, and ensure data protection.
  • User & Access Management: Create/manage user accounts, groups, permissions, and access policies (IAM).
  • Performance Optimization: Monitor system performance, analyze usage, and optimize resource allocation for cost and efficiency.
  • Automation & Scripting: Develop scripts (e.g., Python, PowerShell) to automate routine tasks and manage cloud functions.
  • Troubleshooting & Support: Diagnose and resolve platform issues, respond to alerts, and provide technical support.
  • Application of activity and data modeling, transaction/workflow analysis, internal control, and risk analysis
  • Modern business methods and performance measurement techniques
  • Coordinate and perform logical and physical systems design
  • Review and prepare system documents and specifications
  • Prepare reports, studies, and documentation
  • Deliver presentations, and participate in meetings
  • Enforce quality standards for engineered solutions and promote continuous improvement
