About The Position

MSD is seeking a Cloud Administrator to oversee the District’s Microsoft Azure and Oracle Cloud environments. Duties will include administering, configuring, implementing and maintaining the systems that comprise the cloud platforms of the District. You will Assist in the establishment and implementation of standards for cloud operations according to the District’s policies and specifications. Duties will also include diagnosing and troubleshooting server, networking, and cloud services issues as well as working on proactive tasks such as managing alerts and reports for backups, patching, and other technologies. You will also monitor system health, troubleshoot/escalate system problems, ensure system security requirements are satisfied, and manage server optimization to reduce capital expenditures. Essential Functions Participate in architectural discussions to ensure solutions are designed for successful deployment, security, and high availability of the District’s cloud assets. Assist in the migration of existing systems from premise-based to Cloud-based instances. Perform regular system monitoring, troubleshooting, and repairing of any identified or end-user-reported issues. Configure and maintain virtual servers per business requirements. Update and maintain network diagrams. Document all systems administration configuration processes and installation procedures. Provide technical support for our Cloud implementations as well as integrations with other cloud-based applications. Assist with incident response and investigations related to outages or data breaches, including documentation, mitigation, remediation, and corrective action plans. Monitor server and application performance and resource utilization to manage costs and assist with forecasting resource needs. Schedule, plan, and perform system upgrades in Test, Development, and Production environments. Additional Responsibilities May perform additional duties as delegated by a supervisor After-Hours Work: This position requires availability to work after regular business hours (evenings, nights, weekends) as needed for implementing system changes, updates, and maintenance activities. These activities are crucial for minimizing disruption to business operations and ensuring system stability. On-Call Duty: The employee will participate in a rotational on-call schedule to provide technical support outside of regular business hours, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. Response Requirements: While on-call, the employee must be available to respond promptly to urgent issues, critical situations, and system alerts. This requires the ability to be contacted within a specified timeframe and initiate problem resolution as quickly as possible. Troubleshooting & Incident Response: On-call duties involve identifying, diagnosing, and resolving technical problems, including system failures, security incidents, and application bugs. Compensation: Compensation for on-call hours and after-hours work will be provided in accordance with Civil Service requirements and company policies. This includes any applicable overtime pay for non-exempt employees. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from a recognized college or university with major courses in computer science, business, engineering or related field OR an equivalent mix of education and experience
  • Three (3) years of experience in maintaining cloud servers, storage, and infrastructure environmental components.
  • Three (3) years of experience in Azure Cloud environment, server technologies and administration tools for: Microsoft Windows server OS O365 Linux IBM AIX technologies and SAN NAS Tape management Security and patch management tools UPS Other environmental components
  • Must possess a valid driver's license issued by the state in which the employee resides.
  • All current employees must have a 'Meets Expectations' or 'Proficient' rating on their most recent performance evaluation to be eligible.

Nice To Haves

  • 3+ years of experience administering within Microsoft Azure Cloud Environments.
  • 3+ years of experience administering within Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) Environments
  • Azure Fundamentals Certification (AZ-900)
  • Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE)
  • VMWare Certified Professional
  • Linux server administrator
  • Experience in administration of Windows Active Directory and Azure Active Directory.
  • Experience and knowledge in DNS, DHCP and file services.
  • Experience and knowledge of backup technologies and server patching.
  • Experience and/or knowledge of Microsoft 365 administration
  • Fundamental knowledge of ESX VMware Infrastructure
  • Basic working knowledge of PowerShell scripting
  • Demonstrate good communication, negotiation, analytical, problem-solving skills.
  • Good knowledge of change management processes and ticketing applications
