About The Position

Cloud Software Engineer Location: Annapolis Junction, MD Peraton is looking for a talented Cloud Software Engineer to join our mission-driven Cyber Missions team . In this role, you’ll work on impactful, real-world challenges—designing and delivering cloud solutions that prioritize performance, resilience, and cost efficiency in high-stakes environments. As a Cloud Software Engineer, you’ll take ownership of projects across the full software lifecycle, from requirements analysis and design through development, integration, testing, and ongoing enhancement. You’ll work with a high degree of independence while collaborating closely with a skilled technical team, and you’ll have the opportunity to mentor and guide junior engineers as they grow. Requirements

• 8+ years of hands-on software engineering experience across the full development lifecycle, including design, development, integration, testing, deployment, and troubleshooting
• 6+ years of experience developing in high-level languages such as Java, C, or C++
• Proven experience with open-source, distributed NoSQL technologies (e.g., HBase, Accumulo, BigTable ) supporting large-scale, parallel processing
• 5+ years of software development on UNIX/Linux (Red Hat 3–5) platforms
• 3+ years of experience in software integration and testing, including creating and executing test plans and scripts
• Strong technical writing skills , with experience producing clear, accurate project documentation
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field (e.g., Mathematics, Information Systems, Engineering)
• Active TS/SCI clearance with current polygraph

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain cloud-based software solutions from concept to deployment
• Analyze requirements and translate them into scalable, secure designs
• Balance cost, capability, availability, and resilience in cloud architectures
• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve complex technical issues
• Review and generate technical designs to ensure accuracy and completeness
• Help plan projects by defining tasks, timelines, and technical approaches
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members
