This role is within the Ceramic Matrix Composite (CMC) Commercial Mechanical Analysis team, where you will be analyzing CMC components within the combustion and high-pressure-turbine (HPT) modules of the LEAP and GE9X commercial turbofan engines. The team also supports commercial New Technology Introduction (NTI) programs with CMC components. The Lead Engineer will be responsible for supporting and leading mechanical analysis projects for CMC hot section hardware and/or interfacing metallic components. Tasks will include performing stress analyses and life analyses on these components using finite-element-analysis (FEA) software as well as proprietary post-processing tools. Projects may include evaluating component durability, analyzing impacts of non-conforming hardware, and providing assessments on fleet findings. The individual will be accountable for the quality of own their own work and will be reliant on guidance from their supervisor and technical mentors, and is also expected to guide others in accomplishing tasks. This role requires consistent collaboration and communication with the hardware owners, thermal systems design team, and material behaviors team. In this position, you will have a moderate level of autonomy, working directly with your team lead or controlled title holder and component hardware lead. The job allows modification of procedures and practices covering work as long as the end results meet standards of acceptability (quality, volume, timeliness etc.).
