About The Position

NOVA Engineering is seeking a CMT Lab Technician to join our Construction Materials Testing department in Norcross, GA. This position is primarily laboratory-based and will focus on breaking concrete cylinders and recording concrete strength and quality results as part of NOVA’s quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) testing program. Occasional field assignments may be required. This role is well-suited for entry-level candidates interested in hands-on laboratory work and long-term career development in construction materials testing. NOVA provides on-the-job training and support for obtaining industry certifications. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and job site conditions
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding field work
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn

Nice To Haves

  • ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician – Grade I
  • ACI Aggregate Testing Technician
  • ACI Concrete Laboratory Testing Technician - Level I
  • ICC special inspector certifications (Soils, Reinforced Concrete, Masonry)
  • Prior CMT field and laboratory testing experience

Responsibilities

  • Perform concrete compressive strength testing by breaking concrete cylinders in accordance with ASTM/ACI standards
  • Accurately record, document, and report test results to verify material quality and compliance
  • Maintain clear and organized laboratory records using electronic reporting systems
  • Assist with proper curing, storage, handling, and preparation of concrete test specimens
  • Maintain, calibrate, and care for laboratory testing equipment
  • Follow all company safety policies and laboratory procedures
  • Collect concrete samples and assist with basic field observations as needed
  • Communicate test results with Project Managers, engineers, and laboratory staff
