About The Position

Come see why your job search stops here! As the community's Nursing Assistant - Certified (NAC), you're responsible for providing direct patient care to the residents of the Assisted Living area. You must be knowledgeable of individual residents’ abilities and needs. You will make continuous observations of resident health and social status and response to care and report and document residents’ status and responses. You will assist residents achieve their highest feasible level of functioning. Within your scope of practice, you'll assist in the implementation of each resident’s care plan and documents care provided to residents. As our NAC, you'll provide psycho-social support to residents, and you'll assist in maintaining a clean and orderly environment for residents. Provide direct care to residents, primarily for their activities of daily living but also to include some medical care. Assist residents in and out of bed and into wheelchair with the correct use of the transfer belt (may require the assistance of another aid depending on weight and physical/cognitive abilities of resident). Assist residents in bathing. Assist residents in dressing and undressing. Assist residents in using bathroom facilities and peri care. Clean bedpans and empty catheter bags as needed. Take vital signs of residents (i.e. temperature and blood pressure) and record information. Assist residents to dining area for meals. Assists in personal grooming of residents (i.e. brush hair, trim finger nails and toe nails). If resident is bedridden due to illness, aid may be required to turn resident intermittently. NAC’s are required to document information regarding each resident’s health, input/output and any change of medical condition.

Requirements

  • Current license, in good standing, to practice as a NAC in Washington State.
  • Current cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid Certification.
  • Working knowledge of modes of transmission of infectious diseases, including blood-borne pathogens, and in the use of universal precautions.
  • Demonstrates patience; a genuine caring attitude and passion toward the elderly and disabled persons; flexibility; a positive outlook; the ability to focus on the strengths of other people; and a healthy sense of humor.
  • Ability to tolerate and diffuse angry or aggressive behavior of residents who have various types of dementia or psychiatric problems.
  • Understands and respects Residents’ Rights.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in English.
