About The Position

The C.N.A. works under the direct supervision of the departmental Registered Nurses providing basic nursing care to surgical patients. All nursing care provided will be within the scope of C.N.A. certification and in accordance with hospital policy and procedures. Responsible for carrying out the mission, vision and quality commitment of Good Shepherd Health Care System.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • CNA License, Basic life support certificate.
  • No prior experience required.
  • Perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature without loss of efficiency or composure.
  • Recognize the rights and responsibilities of patient confidentiality.
  • Convey empathy and compassion to those experiencing grief, pain or trauma.
  • Relate to others in a manner that creates a sense of teamwork and cooperation.
  • Communicate effectively and therapeutically with people from all backgrounds.
  • Incorporate guest relations into daily activities

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year Hospital CNA experience.
  • Experience with glucometer, space labs, epic charting, bladder scanner, blood pressure cuffs, scd machines.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the patient with ADLs such as dressing, toileting (including using bedpans, urinals, and commodes), assist with ambulation.
  • Assisting patients with personal hygiene as needed such as peri-care and catheter care.
  • Perform surgical prep such as clipping, nasal swabs, and applications of SCD’s.
  • Transports patients to and from the unit.
  • Prepare patient rooms for procedures.
  • Measuring and recording blood pressure, pulse, respirations, temperature, and oxygen status.
  • Collects and labels specimens appropriately.
  • Ensure patient safety including but not limited to proper transferring techniques and following infection prevention procedures.
  • Meeting the appropriate documentation guidelines in the EMR.
  • Communicate professionally with patients and families.
  • Reporting significant changes in patients’ conditions to appropriate nursing staff.
  • The employee supports the hospital mission, vision, values, policies, and procedures.
  • Participates in required education for DNV programs as applicable to position (reference program education curriculum).
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
