About The Position

Penick Village Inc. a Continuing Care Life Plan community is seeking compassionate and dedicated Certified Nursing Assistants to join our team in the Skilled Nursing. The role of our Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) is crucial to the life of our community. These caregivers assist senior residents with direct care needs while helping to maintain a safe and healthy environment. These caregivers get to know residents on a personal level and will alert management when a resident's needs change. CNAs must be dedicated, compassionate, and respectful. CNAs are hands-on caregivers who make a positive difference in the lives of our residents each and every day. The CNA must be a compassionate and professional individual willing to carry out Penick Village's vision and goals of delivering the highest level of care to those we serve. As a CNA, you must have strong interpersonal communication skills and the ability to deal effectively with residents, families, physicians, community resources and visitors. The primary role of the CNA is to protect, sustain, and nurture our residents by providing assistance with activities of daily living, and meeting other needs as required. Requirements

  • Required to have completed a CNA course and satisfactorily completed a competency assessment, approved by the North Carolina Board of Nursing.
  • Listed on the North Carolina Health Care Personnel Registry in good standing.
  • Must provide proof of current CPR Certification.
  • Must maintain re-certification credentials as a CNA and CPR Certification.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in long term care preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Recognize and respond to the needs of residents
  • Provide and maintain a clean and safe home for residents.
  • Assisting with personal care functions, including: Dental and mouth care Bathing Dressing and grooming Hair care Nail care Shaving Bowel and bladder care Other personal and hygiene care
  • Observe and report the presence of pressure areas to prevent decubiti's and provide skin care according to policy.
  • Make occupied and unoccupied beds and change bed linens.
  • Assist moving, positioning and transporting elders into and out of beds, chairs, bathtubs, wheelchairs, lifts, etc.
  • Assure that call bell is accessible to elder at all times and answered promptly.
  • Record all entries on flow sheets, notes, charts, etc. in an informative and descriptive manner.
  • Use only authorized abbreviations established by this facility when recording information.
  • Report all changes in the residents' condition to the Charge Nurse as soon as possible.
  • Report all accidents and incidents you observe on the shift that they occur.
  • Inform supervisor of any changes in the resident's condition so that appropriate information can be entered into the resident's care plan.
  • Ensure that your notes/documentation reflect that the care plan is being followed.
  • Communicate with co-workers at all levels to meet the needs of residents.
  • Measure and record vital signs, such as temperature, pulse, respirations, weight, height, anatomical dimension/circumference, etc. as necessary.
  • Report any resident abuse or suspected abuse to the Healthcare Administrator or designee immediately.
  • Follow established safety precautions and observe, monitor and intervene or report to the Healthcare Administrator or designee, unsafe conditions in Penick Village.
  • Follow established smoking regulations and report violations.
  • Maintain confidentiality and privacy of resident care, procedures, and documentation.
  • Serve and clean up after meals and snacks.
  • Launder clothing, linen and other articles.
  • Clean and maintain the environment in partnership with housekeeping to include daily trash collection, removal of food and other items, and light housekeeping.
  • Keep all areas of the Penick Village clean.
  • Attend meetings and in-service training as scheduled.
  • Assist family members in a friendly and courteous manner when they inquire about the matters of the Elder and/or direct them to appropriate staff that can assist them.
  • Perform other related duties as required by the resident.
