Crane Aerospace and Electronics has an exciting opportunity for a CNC Grinder Programmer- 1st Shift at our Elyria, OH location. Hours are Monday-Friday 6:30am-3:00pm. Requirements

  • 3+ year of experience with CNC Grinder, setup and tolerances (± .5 thou) required
  • Must have basic reading and writing skills
  • Requires basic math skills such as adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing.
  • Must be able to read and interpret blueprints, detail sheets, manufacturing outlines, and written instructions.
  • Requires a working knowledge of fixtures, cutting tools, and selecting and dressing wheels for finish requirements.
  • Education: High School Diploma.
  • Eligibility Requirement: This position may require access to Controlled Data or Information. Where the position requires such access only US Persons will be considered. As a US Department of Defense contractor, we are bound by International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
  • Requires prolonged periods of standing, bending, lifting, and stretching.
  • Requires occasional lifting parts, fixtures, containers, and grinding wheels up to 70 pounds to a height of 5 feet with aid of a hoist.
  • Must have the ability to occasionally maneuver portable rigging equipment which requires heavy exertion while stretching and bending.
  • Requires use of assorted burring tools.
  • Requires frequent lifting and handling part and fixtures weighing up to 20 pounds from floor to waist level.

  • Exposure to machine coolant.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate various manual, NC, CNC and grinding machines, equipment and hand tools.
  • Perform diversified internal, external, and surface grinding operations.
  • Manufacture parts in accordance with established quality and quantity standards in a team -oriented cell.
  • Responsible for maintaining cell inventory.
  • Provide a finish in accordance with the manufacturing outline and blueprint requirements including but not limited to removal of burrs and edge breaks.
  • Troubleshoot and correct problems for set-up, non-conformance tooling and machining processes.
  • Select and properly use all measuring instruments and gauges.
  • Report machine malfunctions and part discrepancies to supervisor.
  • Saw material as required.
  • Clean and move parts as necessary.
  • Pass an annual eye exam.
  • Responsible for product verification and process control including using necessary measuring devices.
  • Document all non-conformances through specified data collection procedures.
  • Inspect work and verify that product meets all appropriate standards at each operation step in the cell.
  • Perform required rework, secondary operations, routine maintenance per Appendix A, and appropriate safety checks in the cell.

  • Complete all required paperwork.
  • Ensure all material is properly cleaned, identified, protected, and stacked prior to movement.
  • Work with internal and external customers and suppliers and participate in continuous improvement activities as required.
  • Complete all required documentation including but not limited to operator inspection records, job routers, NCR’s, reject tags, move tickets, and stock tickets.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by department supervisor.
  • Utilize computer to access various databases.
